Yesterday, June 2nd at 6pm, there was a peaceful protest which began on Merrick Road in Merrick near Trader Joe’s and ended at Babylon Turnpike. It was a beautiful demonstration in a small town of the exercise to the right of every citizen’s first amendment. Unfortunately, amidst the demonstration were a FEW residents from Merrick and nearby towns that behaved in an unorderly fashion and does not reflect the values of the ENTIRE Merrick community nor its diverse business community. The Merrick Chamber of Commerce does not support nor condone such behaviors. Now more than ever, we need the residents to support our local businesses and shop local. Please do not let the behavior of a few be a reflection of us all. In times of uncertainty, we need to work together and support and respect one another. Stay safe, god bless.
